"Teacher"

Oops... you may not have noticed, but I skipped out on making a posting yesterday... sorry!

There really wasn't too much excitement yesterday, other than it being my 2nd day at school and cutting into a really gross papaya. I was super excited about the papaya, but was instantly turned off by the smell and then by the taste. When asked by my roommates what it tasted like, I replied by saying it was like eating a rotten cantaloupe; not that I've ever done that, but I imagine it would be a similar experience.  I was disappointed to say the least! I will mention that I did make two amazing phone calls to three very unsuspecting people... Grandmother and Memaw & DadDad.  They were definitely surprised to hear my voice even though it wasn't for long since my $10 phone card only lasted about a total of 8 minutes. However, it was super good to talk with them for even a couple minutes! (p.s. Mom- get them to come over so they can see this thing... none of them said they had yet)

I can't believe that I'm wearing a t-shirt and shorts in the middle of January, but I am! Walking everywhere, especially along the sea wall, is something that I could definitely get used to. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I get home and have to drive my car and sit in traffic!

Today was a fun day at school. Our class has to do P.E. on our own, so we spent about an hour outside having potato sack races, jumping rope, relay races, and stretches. The kids had a GREAT time and were excited about starting the day off by running around outside. Later in the day we had art class which is taught by Mr.Sanchez, who is from Cuba. I wound up with glue all over me after helping the students make paper caterpillars which didn't turn out to be so cute. They had fun though and one little girl told me I was a good teacher because I could glue so well. Perhaps KSU should go ahead and me my diploma and certification right now based on my gluing abilities... lol. I hear "Teacher" like 1000 times a day because the kids are so excited about showing everything! Being in this class is also kind of funny because my teacher keeps calling me "Ms. Cod", while the students all call me "Teacher Cobb"This is really funny to me because I've heard my teacher stressing the importance of pronouncing "b" and "d" correctly during our phonics time for the last couple days. Maybe I should suggest using my name as an example next time we're reviewing those letters!

Here's some pictures of my class. The room is actually a pretty good size for the 20 kids in it and the fact that we don't have many supplies and extra furniture other than a couple tables and the desks and chairs.

CHALK board!

the teacher's desk... no computer, printer, or really anything other than a notepad, pen, fan, and pencil sharpener
