So today marks a new experience for us in Belize... we went out of our apartment past 6:00PM!!! Basically we've been told by some pretty trustworthy people not to walk around in the evening when it's getting dark just for safety precautions unless we are going somewhere by taxi or with someone we know. We haven't taken a taxi late in the day simply because we don't really know of any good restaurants or places to go yet. However, tonight we went to dinner with Rachel's teacher, Sheena. It turned out to be probably the best meal we've had here so far! And, of course, I forgot to take a picture of it! I had a yummy chicken quesadilla with rice and a coke. Even though I usually stick with water, I've been drinking coke when we go out to eat to get a little sugar in me and it's cheap. I'll probably come back addicted to coke.. wonderful! Anyways, the restaurant we went to was called The View, and it was cool because it's on the top level of a hotel about 10 minutes from our house. The other great thing about this restaurant is that the owner of the place is the dad of one of my students, and we met him while we were there. Pretty much all the students at the school have parents who own restaurants and businesses or are lawyers and doctors which is neat. It's kind of comforting to know that we have connections to people who can help us out in the case that we needed anything while we're here.
That's the excitement for today! I can't believe that we've almost been here a week! It feels like we just got here yesterday, but I'm thankful that I've gotten so easily adjusted to everything so easily and quickly. Belize is so much more like home than I thought it would be. We can pretty much get all the foods we usually eat at home (some things are kind of pricey, but they're available), the music is the same as at home, and even most of the TV channels are the same. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this experience so far, other than the fact that y'all aren't here to experience it with me!

Gas prices... $9.20BLZ which is really $4.10 US. And people only buy about a gallon at a time.
Picture of my class from Christmas... I still can't believe I'm wearing t-shirts and shorts in January! That's Ms. Morales standing next to Santa. I can't believe she's in her 70's!
Wow... can I please correct my math from the gas prices?? It's really $4.60 US. Sorry!
